The contest, of which Stefanie was a guest judge, was both fabulous and inspiring. Breast Cancer Awareness was a huge part of the day (almost all the ladies at Churchill Downs were wearing pink) and many of the contestants were breast cancer survivors themselves.
This gal's outfit was my personal favorite. How lovely and ladylike is her pink and orange dress?!
There were some really outrageous outfits too. These ladies and their giant fuzzy hats totally cracked me up.
Coincidentally the gal who won the contest was my seatmate on the plane! It was her first time at the Derby too and she was super excited about her hat, which she decorate herself. I was so glad to see her win.
After watching the races and noshing on Derby pie, we changed and went over to the Barnstable Brown Gala. Hosted by Patricia Barnstable Brown and her sister Priscilla, the outdoor black-tie event was quite the Kentucky experience,

The following day, I was ready to get my gamble on,

Spending the weekend with awesome peeps also made the weekend special. Here's Ben who started the watch site and Jodi, an accessories editor at Elle, getting their mint julep on. Don't they look great in their Derby gear?
