On occasions, I have my S&W Mod 63 4" .22 LR with me, some other occasions Mod 51 3 1/2" .22 Mag krub
I think you need to know what suits your need and ability too krub. Never mind me, Elmer Keith who also was associated with parenting the .44 Mag and some hotload .45 LCs, at times carried his Mod 51 3 1/2" on the trail too
I wouldn't feel outgunned as long as I have a gun that I trust and can shoot well with me krub. I can shoot .22 LR well from this revolver to 25 yards within 8" size Steelplate with good regularity and also can extend the range with .22 Mag out to 50 yards or so too
However, if that changed to a lightweight Beretta .22 LR(not mod 87 but one prior to that with cross-both safety similar to the Original Brigadier), then I will be happy toting that while walking the trail with 8+1 capacity anyday too krub. No need for a service of my FEG .380, LW Commander .45, 1911 .39 Super or 9 mm Browning Hi-power for regular situation while NOT Expecting any Deadly Encounter.
However, if I were to be in the Southern 3 provinces in question now, I would opt for the most accurate gun I can handle well in that kind of situation and that would be my most trusted Hi-Power with at least 2 spare magazines krub
and, of course backed, by my short-barrel scoped 10/22 with Butler Creeks foldable stock in the trunk of the car next to my Rem 870 P 20" with all OOBuck loads
I guess you can never have too many guns under circumstances
