e Security-Six
In the early 1970s Ruger also ventured into the field of double-action revolvers. The companys earliest offering was called the Ruger Security-Six and made use of Rugers knowledge of investment casting and coiled springs. The Security-Six was originally offered in .357 Magnum but was soon available in .38 Special and 9mm. During its 15 years of production, the Security-Six was available in blued or stainless steel with 2 3/4-, four-, or six-inch barrel lengths. Fixed-sight versions of the popular sixgun were designated the Speed-Six or the Police Service-Six.
The Security-Six was a competitively priced medium-frame revolver that could stand up to the rigors of service on a peace officers gunbelt. It is not surprising, therefore, to learn that the U. S. Border Patrol worked with Ruger to design a heavier four-inch-barreled version of the Security-Six for its use. Civilian handgunners found the Security-Six, like Rugers other revolvers, to be moderately priced, accurate, and dependable
