US Coast Guard ติดและใช้อาวุธทั้งในและนอกประเทศ   ในสงครามอ่าว  US Coast Guard  ทำหน้าที่ลาดคะเวนชายฝั่ง Arabian Gulf .

Also  The National Oceanic and Atmospheric administration Commissioned Corps is an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce.has nothing to do with  being Armed Forces
And the U​.S.Public Health Service Commissioned Corps also has nothing to do with  being Armed Forces .

เพิ่งเข้าใจครับว่า US Coast Guard  นี่คืออะไร เมื่อประมาณ 3 ปีก่อนได้คุยเอ็มเอสเอ็นกับเพื่อนเก่าได้ความว่าแต่งงานอยู่กับสามีที่อเมริกา สามีเป็น Coast Guard  ไอ้เราก็ถามว่ามันคืออะไร คุณเธอก็บอกว่าคล้ายทหารแต่ไม่ใช่ทหาร เราก็ งงงงงงง....

Department of Defense มี Secretary of Defense เป็นผู้บัญชาการสูงสุด น่าจะเทียบเท่า รัฐมนตรีมั้งครับ
ประธานาธิบดีนอกจากเป็นประมุขของชาติแล้วยังมีตำแหน่งเป็น The Commander in Chief ผู้บัญชาการสุงสุดของกองทัพทุกเหล่า
แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม การสั่งการยังต้องเป็นไปตาม สายงานตามลำดับขั้น( The chain of command )ไล่ลงไป

"Semper Fi” ( Semper Fidelis)  "Always Faithful" หมายถึง ซื่อสัตย์ จงรักภักดีต่อเพื่อนทหารนาวิกฯ ด้วยกันไม่ทิ้งกัน จงรักภักดีต่อหน้าที่ จงรักภักดีต่อ Marine Corps. จงรักภักดีต่อชาติ

สำหรับคนเมกัน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นทหารเหล่าไหน ก็เป็นเกรียติสูงสุดของลูกผู้ชายกันทั้งนั้น ไม่ใช่แต่ทหารนาวิกอย่างเดียว
เป็นทหารแล้วย้ายเหล่าในขณะที่ยังไม่หมดวาระ  สามารถทำได้มีข้อยกเว้นไว้สำหรับ เหล่าแพทย์
แต่โดยมากแล้วจะต้องอยู่ให้ครบวาระก่อน แล้วออกไปสมัครเข้าเหล่าอื่น ( เพื่อนรุ่นพี่ผมเคยเป็น USMC พอครบเทอมออกมา ไปสมัครเป็น Airforce และได้รับยศเดิม( เทียบเท่า))
หรือตามกฏข้อ  inter-service agreement ทหารเรือ อากาศ มารีนและ Coast Guard สามารถขอลาออกก่อนครบเทอมได้

ปกติจะต้องเซ็นสัญญาเป็นทหาร 8 ปี
ขออธิบายว่า ภายใน 8 ปีนี้จะแบ่งเป็นการเซ็นสัญญาแบบที่เรียกว่า active duty ต้องอย่างน้อย 2 ปี ถึงจะออกได้
อีกทีเหลือ 6 ปี จะอยู่ในฐานะกำลังสำรอง  ทางกองทัพสามารถเรียกกลับเข้ามาประจำการได้ พอพ้น 8 ปีไปแล้วก็หมดภาระหน้าที่
ผมเพิ่งส่งแบบฟอรม์ ต่ออายุอีก 3 ปีไป  เดือนหน้าต้องไปสาบานตนอีกครั้ง  ภาษาฝรั่งเรียกว่า taking an Oaths .
ลองดูคำกล่าวปฏิญานสาบานตน

"I, ชื่อตัวเอง, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

ตอนที่ โอบาม่า ได้เป็น ประธานาธิบดี มีทหารบอกว่าจะไม่สาบานตนว่า I will obey the orders of the President of the United States ( เชื่อฟังคำสั่งของ ประธานาธิบดี ) ทางกองทัพก็บอกง่ายๆสั้นๆว่า  ก็ลาออกไปนะจ๊ะ
